Shah Rukh Fires First Salvo At Hrithik, Raees Vs Kaabil War Begins
It's now a fight to the finish. January 26 will decide who will draw more crowds. For a start, the distributor of SRK's Raees has managed to pull some single screens on his side. Let's see what chinks lie in Kaabil's armoury
Single screens running Mirzya today WILL NOT release Kaabil. Single screens which do not have Mirzya today WILL release Kaabil. Confused? Well, leading distributor Anil Thadani wanted it that way.
The story goes that Mirzya's distributor Thadani told single screens in no uncertain terms that he will not give them Mirzya if they do not sign a contract which says "that they ought to give all their four shows to Shah Rukh Khan's Raees (which is also distributed by Thadani obviously) and no show to Hrithik Roshan's Kaabil in the 2017 Republic Day week."

It is now clear that the Kaabil-Raees clash will definitely happen on January 26, 2017. Rakesh Roshan has refused to shift Kaabil despite SRK's visit to his house on July 19 asking if Raees could come solo (Rakesh Roshan says: No, I am not shifting Kaabil to avert the Raees-Kaabil clash, July 19). It is clear that SRK too is not willing to budge.

However, going by the slow start that Rakeysh Mehra's Mirzya has had, we wonder if the single screens which toed Thadani's line are repenting their decision. Early days yet, but the weekend should throw a clearer picture.
Interestingly, Hrithik Roshan's last film Mohenjo Daro suffered a big dent when it locked horns with Akshay Kumar's Rustom. SRK's last big clash, Dilwale vs Bajirao Mastani, met with a similar result. It would be interesting to see which of the two wounded lions roars louder this time.

Raees (whose trailer is expected to be released on SRK's birthday November 2 and attached to his next-in-line film Dear Zindagi) is the story of a bootlegger in Gujarat. On the other hand, Kaabil is a revenge story of a blind man.
Raees stars Mahira Khan opposite SRK, while Yami Gautam plays Hrithik's wife in Kaabil.
